Yamakoshi Honpo Specialty Products

Development product born from Tanesuhara rice

What is Yamakoshihonpo?

『We want to rescue the producers.
Even a little bit, but still want to be your strength.』

Based on this idea, Yamakoshihonpo was born. The rice that all Japanese eat is our starting point.
Some people may think that as long as you grow rice, you will be live without worrying about your back and belly, but this is not the case.
Although the rice is eaten all year round, it can only be harvested once a year.
Income, only at that time.
However, it is necessary to prepare for harvesting, raising seedlings, soil making, rice planting, etc.
To cultivate delicious rice, Producers work very hard in places where we can't see them.
So can the value of the rice that is hard-made can be completely conveyed to consumers?
In order not to make the difference between the meaning of the producer and the consumer, what is the real good thing?
Then pass on the value of good things.

「Tanesuhara Rice」 Born from a blessed environment

The temperature difference between day and night

山古志本舗昼夜の寒暖差
Rice produces starch and stores nutrients during the day when the sun is shining. And during the night when the temperature drops, it tightly traps nutrients and umami ingredients. In the Yamakoshi district of Nagaoka City, Niigata Prefecture, there is a large temperature difference between day and night, and there is an environment in which delicious rice with a chewy stickiness and sweetness can grow.

Melted pure snow water

山古志本舗清らかな雪解け湧き水
Water plays a very important role in rice cultivation. The melted pure snow water greatly affects the taste of rice. This Tanesuhara rice in such a favorable time and geographical environment, the pure snow on the mountain melts and is rich in minerals and improves the environment on the mountain. In this environment, nutritious and delicious rice is grown.

Excellent soil

山古志本舗優れた土壌
Rice terraces are rich in "nitrogen, phosphoric acid, and potassium," which are the three elements of fertilizer, and can carry nutrient-rich soil and abundant water from spring water. It is the best soil for cultivating rice. The soil made of fertile clay is rich in the nutrients needed to make rice, so less scientific fertilizer is needed, and this natural nourishment becomes the "Umami".

What kind of place is Yamakoshi?

A village located in the mountains of the Chuetsu region of Niigata prefecture (incorporated into Nagaoka city from April 2005). The beautiful scenery of rice terraces is popular among photographers. Bullfighting and Koi are also famous. The Chuetsu region, a well-known rice-producing area, has all the conditions for harvesting delicious rice. Since it is a heavy snowfall area with several meters of snow in winter, it is blessed with melted pure snow water, then you can harvest rice with a fresh taste. The 2004 Chuetsu Earthquake was so devastating that it forced the entire village to evacuated for a while, but now it is steadily moving towards reconstruction, and residents are slowly returning to their original lives.
